When medicine meets fiction, imagination is the only limit...

Bad pharma just got a whole lot worse….

  • A deadly new pharmaceutical compound.

  • A migrants’s mysterious death.

  • A conspiracy hiding in plain sight.

And once seen…. they can never be unseen

When Dr James Harland - a brilliant, flawed NHS physician - identifies an unknown agent in a patients blood he uncovers a chain of events linking rogue pharmaceutical operators, organised crime, vulnerable asylum seekers and political corruption at the highest level.

As the stakes rise and a deadly conspiracy unfolds, Harland must confront the darkest corners of medicine, government and his own past. Because some truths demand to be uncovered.

As Harland’s personal life unravels and the body count rises, he faces impossible choices: protect his daughter, expose the truth, avenge those who can not fight back - or survive long enough to do all three.

About Michael Crisp

With twenty years working as an NHS Doctor, Michael has witnessed first-hand just how unpredictable real life can be, and the chaos that such unpredictability can bring to people’s lives. The saying “life is stranger than fiction” often holds true, but for Mike, it’s never just about the drama of the story, instead, it’s always about the people at the heart of it.

For the past fifteen years, Michael has worked as a GP in Gloucestershire, developing and honing his medical expertise, as well as his keen eye for human behaviour. The fleeting facial expressions, the pauses before a sentence, the subtle changes in tone or nuances of speech that often say far more than words ever could. These small, often unnoticed details are what make people unique and have helped bring Mike’s characters to life on the page.

That deep understanding of human subtleties allows Michael to create vivid, authentic and truly believable characters who stick with you long after you’ve turned the final page. Combining rich character development, moral complexity, and page-turning tension, along with his real life medical knowledge makes Michael very much a debut author to keep an eye on.

When not working in the NHS, he is busy writing the second novel in the James Harland series. Outside of writing and medicine, he’s a loving husband, proud father to his boys, runner, dog walker, friend, frustrated musician – and an even more frustrated golfer!
